Finished Projects
In the middle of the semester during my Network Security class, we were tasked to write an example penetration test report and make up findings of our own to use as would be vulnerabilities. Determined to go bigger and better, I conducted a minimal, real-life penetration test in an effort to not only make my professor proud, but to push myself toward the challenge! In doing so, I discovered via an NMAP scan the website's server had a vulnerable FTP server that possessed the potential for uploading a malicious payload if desired. In an effort to help the website's owner better understand what exactly this meant, I quickly crafted a simple PDF and uploaded it into the server. Once the owner saw this process and understood the danger, I was given permission to disable the server's FTP anonymous login to close the door against this vulnerability.

Penetration Test
Using Cisco Packet Tracer, I constructed a small network consisting of six different subnets. In each subnet there is a Cisco 2960 switch, 1941 router, a server with static assigned IP addresses, and 21 devices consisting of PC's, laptops, and printers. All devices in each subnet are configured with DHCP, and can successfully receive their IP address from one primary DHCP issuing server in the subnet of 192.168.0.0, as well as successfully ping every device in the network. Additionally, the network has one primary DNS server living on the 192.168.6.0 subnet. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed building this network!

Dell CPU Overheating
A good friend of mine called asking for help! His Dell laptop would continually shut down after multiple attempts to reboot. I explained it was possibly due to his CPU overheating, and asked to take a look inside to check the CPU's fan. Upon doing so it was evident the CPU was indeed beginning to overheat due to the fan's power supply losing it's connection. After reattachment and powering back on, I checked the system's BIOS events and my suspicions were confirmed, with fan malfunction being listed multiple times. After exiting the BIOS settings, my friend's computer started right up without any reboots, and has continued to work great for him since!

My mother needed assistance! The battery on her HP laptop was extremely swollen due to being severely overcharged on a daily basis. Upon taking off the bottom cover of the laptop, I also noticed a severe amount of dust build-up. With a combination of compressed air, a soft natural bristle brush, and a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with some Isopropyl alcohol to remove the dust buildup, the battery happily went in and it her HP is now running nice and smooth!

HP Laptop Battery Replacement

Completed the installation of a Kali Linux VM onto my PC that runs Windows 11. With a fully functioning Kali Linux distro, I am beyond excited to continue exploring this program, as well as become better acquainted with some of the tools I have familiarity with, such as NMAP, Metasploit, BurpSuite, WPScan, Wireshark and John the Ripper to name a few.
